Terry Crull, instructor of music and director of choral activities at Fort Hays State University, had two outstanding performance opportunities this year, his second at FHSU.
The FHSU Concert Choir performed at the Kansas Music Educators Association state workshop in February, and the Fort Hays Singers are traveling to Taiwan for a 10-day tour this month.
Crull also conducted honor choir festivals this past fall in Ellis, Downs and Palco, and he was guest conductor for both the Southwest KMEA District Honor Choir in Dodge City and the Northwest KMEA District Honor Choir in Hays. Each of these festivals and clinics consisted of rehearsal sessions of three to five hours with choirs of 115-200 singers and a concert to close the day. All told, Crull conducted 779 western Kansas high school singers in day-long clinics and then a final concert.
In addition to the Concert Choir and the Fort Hays Singers, Crull also conducts the Women’s Chorale and the Collegian Chorale -- which is a non-auditioned choir open to anyone -- and teaches courses in choral music and music appreciation.
