The lights will be shining in Felten-Start Theatre on Saturday, April 28, but this time it will be for a production of a different sort. Fort Hays State University's theatre program will be "In the Spotlight" with a semi-formal dessert reception from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Malloy Hall.
The evening will honor past theatre professors Dr. Steve Shapiro and Dr. Lloyd Frerer. Both will be in attendance to accept congratulations and share memories with theatre patrons past and present.
Along with the dessert bar, the Fort Hays Singers and one-act plays written and directed by students in the directing class will provide entertainment for the evening.
Throughout the evening, guests will be asked to share messages and memories of Shapiro and Frerer, which will be used by the Public Relations Student Society to create a scrapbook for each. Those unable to attend the event may also share their memories and messages, by mailing them to:
Center for Student Involvement
600 Park St.
Hays, KS 67601
The reception is open to all FHSU alumni and the community. Tickets are limited due to the capacity limitations of the theatre. The cost for the evening will be $15 for tickets bought before April 20. Any tickets still available on the evening of the event can be purchased at the ticket booth outside the theatre for $20. All proceeds will be donated to the theatre program at FHSU.
Tickets may be purchased from the Web site at www.fhsu.edu/communication or by calling the Department of Communication Studies at (785) 628-5365.
The event is hosted by the Public Relations Student Society.
