Graphic arts students from Fort Hays State University placed in six of ten award categories at the American Institute of Graphic Arts Wichita Chapter's 19th Annual Student Portfolio Forum on March 31.
Students from FHSU competed against students from Wichita State University, Kansas State University, McPherson College and Friends University.
Saori Kanno, Tokyo, Japan, senior, took first place in the overall portfolio competition and received the Best Illustration/Photography award.
Nick Wright, Topeka senior, took second place in the overall portfolio competition.
Jennifer Higerd, Gem special student, received the Judge's Choice award and the award for Best Packaging.
Randy Rogers, McCook, Neb., senior received the Best Multimedia award.
"This was more than just a competition for these students. They received a lot of valuable insight on their work as well as a lot of valuable contacts," said Karrie Simpson-Voth, associate professor of art.
AIGA is a national organization of professional designers dedicated to furthering excellence in communication design as a broadly defined discipline.
