Fort Hays State University's Alumni Association was awarded Gold by District VI of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education recently for a 2006 event sponsored by the Student Alumni Association.
The CASE Gold Award for Excellence was given in the Special Groups category of Alumni Programming for the 2006 Senior Send-Off, a celebration for graduating FHSU seniors in May 2006. Sponsored by the Alumni Association, the SAA and Nelnet, Senior Send-Off featured games, music, free T-shirts, food and a wide variety of prizes as well as the opportunity to learn about the Alumni Association and the Nelnet student loan consolidation program.
Central to the award was the Senior Send-Off logo designed by FHSU alumnus Nate Meder, Hays, who received a bachelor of fine arts degree in 2003.
CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications and development. District VI represents eight states in Mid-America: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming.
"The Gold Award is the highest award CASE gives out," said Dawn Mermis, SAA co-sponsor and interim assistant alumni director. "The Student Alumni Association representatives helped design, organize and implement the Senior Send-Off."
Last year was the first Senior Send-Off event.
