Nex-Tech establishes scholarship for FHSU students

Incoming freshmen who plan to major in information networking and telecommunications with an emphasis in computer networking and telecommunications at Fort Hays State University will be eligible for a new scholarship established by Nex-Tech Inc. of Hays with the FHSU Endowment Association.

The scholarship will be awarded annually beginning with the 2007-2008 academic year.

"FHSU has a long history of providing qualified and motivated employees for our company. Providing assistance to a deserving student is an opportunity for us to reward and further that relationship," said Jeff Wick, chief operating officer of Nex-Tech.

Mark Bannister, chair of FHSU's INT Department, said, "Nex-Tech and Rural Telephone have been tremendous supporters and partners with the university. These companies have shared expertise, helped the university obtain equipment and software, offered internships, and even offered opportunities for students to perform nationally award winning senior projects."

Applications can be made online until midnight, Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 on the FHSU Web site at, or through the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications at FHSU.
