Fifty-six volunteer teams helped complete another successful fund-raising campaign by sending the contribution amount over the goal of $440,000 during this year's 27th annual FHSU Tiger Call. From Oct. 6 to Nov. 15, volunteers reached 14,363 families by telephone and raised $441,871.
"I whooped and hollered when I learned we exceeded our goal," Cathy Van Doren, director of annual giving, said. "Putting the final paw on the Tiger Call toteboard in front of the building is a great way to end the semester."
Organized and conducted by the FHSU Endowment Association, the annual Tiger Call Phonathon is the main fund-raising event for FHSU scholarships. During the phonathon, alumni are asked to give to scholarship funds for current and future students.
The “Strongest Participation” awards this year go to the Department of Agriculture for the departmental team and to the Student Alumni Association for the student organization team.
Tiger Call chairs were Dr. Glen McNeil, chair of the Department of Health and Human Performance, and Dr. John Heinrichs, chair of the Department of Geosciences.
