Fort Hays State University's Crops Judging Team recently hosted the Regional American Society of Agronomy Crops Judging Contest and placed second. Kansas State University placed first.
Amber Hines, Spearville senior, led the Tigers with Brent Gruenbacher, Colwich sophomore, and Lyndon Wagner, Holly, Colo., senior, following close behind.
Jake Karlin, Hays sophomore, and Kurtis Tobald, Glasco junior, also competed.
"The students lack experience but make up for a lot with determination," said Dr. Bob Stephenson, team coach and associate professor of agriculture.
