Rebecca Tincknell, a Fort Hays State University special student from Hays, recently placed second at the Hays Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.

"There were 40 contestants from Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma in the preliminary round, and Tincknell was selected as one of the three finalists to perform with the symphony," said Joseph Perniciaro, instructor of voice and Director of Opera. "She sang 'The Willow Song' and 'So anch'io la virtu magica' with the symphony."

Tincknell, Hays, is majoring in performance.
