FHSU Justice Studies program is a 'Best Buy'
11/02/2006

At $5,394, the online master's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in justice studies from Fort Hays State University Virtual College is ranked No. 4 in the nation as a Best Buy according to GetEducated.com.

GetEducated.com was formed in 1989 as the first online counseling center for adult learners seeking accredited online college degrees. GetEducated.com evaluates every college program that applies to the site. It does not allow unaccredited distance learning colleges, online colleges that are accredited by false agencies or fake Internet universities. All of the college programs listed on GetEducated.com are accredited by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation or its international equivalent.

GetEducated.com evaluated 15 online accredited master's criminal justice studies programs across the nation whose tuition is under $15,000.

"I was delighted. It's nice to be recognized," said Dr. Brian Kinnaird, chair of the Department of Justice Studies. "But I wasn't surprised, given the growth and strength of FHSU's online program."

According to Dr. Arthur Morin, director of the master of liberal studies program, the MLS was first offered online in 1996 and now, 10 years later, has 290 students enrolled.

The results for these rankings are based on a spring 2006 GetEducated.com national survey of publicly posted tuition rates and college costs at justice and allied legal studies master degree programs offered by accredited universities thoughout the nation.
