National expert to present for psychology conference
10/31/2006

Approximately 175 professionals and students from across Kansas and Nebraska will converge for the two-day conference of the seventh biennial joint meeting of the Psychological and Educational Research in Kansas and the Nebraska Psychological Society.

"This is the first time in several decades that the meeting has been held in Hays," said Dr. Carrie Nassif, assistant professor of psychology. "We are hoping that it will acquaint a number of people to the charm and amenities that western Kansas has to offer."

Dr. Joshua Aronson will present "The Nature of Intelligence" at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 4 at Fort Hays State University's Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.

Aronson, who is from the New York University Steinhardt School of Education, is an expert on culture, ethnicity, and diversity in education and achievement. He has been seen on an ABC television "20/20" program this September, "Race & Sex: We Think But We Can't Say Stereotypes and Biases."

The presentation is free to the public.
