FHSU Wind Ensemble commemorates victims of 9/11 through its music

Jeff Jordan, assistant professor of music, is conducting the Fort Hays State University Wind Ensemble in its opening concert of the year on Oct. 26. Their performance is entitled "A Spirit of Hope: Five Years Later." This performance is commemorating the victims of 9/11.

"This show is an attempt of various composers to offer hope to the public through their music," said Jordan.

The performance will feature works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Charles Ives and Irving Berlin. The FHSU choir will perform along with the ensemble on special pieces throughout the performance. There will also be one piece that Jordan created for this performance entitled "Tharsos," which is the Greek word for courage.
The performance will be held at Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the FHSU campus from 8 to 9 p.m. Tickets will be $6 for adults, $4 for students and free for FHSU students with their Tiger ID.
