10/12/2006

Beautiful and energetic art from local artists will be available Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Fort Hays State University Art Department annual Student Scholarship Sale. The sale is from 9 a.m. to noon in the first floor hallway of Rarick Hall, on the FHSU campus.

The sale, held in conjunction with Tiger Friends and Family Day, will feature artwork donated by past and present art faculty as well as students and alumni. Proceeds will benefit the general art scholarship fund.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase quality student and faculty artwork by nationally and internationally recognized artists on staff at FHSU and alumni," said Gordon Sherman, associate professor of art.

Items included in the sale are ceramics, sculpture, paintings, prints, jewelry, photographs, drawings and more. Vintage FHSU Art Department posters will also be available.

The Jon Swindler-Dusty Herbig alumni exhibition will also be on display in the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art and may be viewed during the sale.

"This sale will provide the perfect opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping while providing a meaningful contribution to the general art scholarship fund for undergraduate art students," said Sherman. "Come by to purchase some great art. Give the gift that keeps on giving."
