The annual Fort Hays State University Math Relays, scheduled for Nov. 9 has been canceled this year to accommodate renovations on Memorial Union.

"We concluded that current renovations of the Memorial Union posed a safety threat to the large number of high school students that typically participate in Math Relays," said Mary Kay Schippers, instructor of mathematics and event director.

Next year's relays are already being planned for Nov. 8, 2007.
