Beautiful Hammond Park will be the site Saturday, Sept. 16, of the "Flint Hills Tigers: Takin' the Hornets by Storm" event taking place before the Fort Hays State University versus Emporia State University football game. This event is sponsored by the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association.
"Takin' the Hornets" will begin at 10:30 a.m. and includes a delicious barbeque picnic with all the trimmings. The football game will kick-off at 1 p.m. Tiger supporters and friends are invited to get revved up for the game while hearing the latest and greatest happenings at FHSU from Dr. Edward Hammond, president.
Advanced reservations are required and may be obtained by contacting the FHSU Alumni Association toll free at 1-888-351-3591. Registration for adults is $10, students (age 6-18 years) is $7.50, and children 5 or under are $5. Tickets to the football game may be purchased at Fran Welch Stadium. Alumni hosts are Duane and Lisa Dreiling, Emporia. Duane is a 1992 FHSU graduate.
