Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art to present 'Shades of Grey'

An exhibition of works by five renowned photographers will open at the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art Friday, Aug. 25, as part of the Hays annual Fall Gallery Walk.

The opening reception, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, in Rarick Hall, room 102, on the Fort Hays State University campus, is free and open to the public.

"'Shades of Grey' features works by Dan Downing, Howard Eastwood, Stan Reimer, Doyle Saddler and Leon Staab, who represent a combined 175 years of professional photography," said Michael Jilg, professor of art and director of the Moss-Thorns Gallery.

"In addition to making photography their careers, they also devote a portion of their times creating fine art photographs," said Jilg. "They are experienced in the traditional photographic processes and have mastered the darkroom skills necessary to produce museum-quality archival black and white prints. Most have also accepted the new digital technology and utilize it in their newer work."

The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 25 to Sept. 8.

Regular hours for the gallery are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
