Ten courses will be offered at Fort Hays State University's IPTV site in Salina this fall, up from six in the spring semester.
Despite opening after the spring 2005 semester began, and with virtually no advertising or publicity, the first semester for the Internet Protocol Television educational partnership in Salina had 27 students in the six courses offered.
The site -- the eighth in FHSU's IPTV network -- is the result of a partnership with the Smoky Hill/Central Kansas Education Development Center, which provided two classrooms in the former Franklin Elementary School, 830 S. Ninth, Salina. The school was renovated into the Smoky Hill Learning Center.
"This summer we have increased the quality and bandwidth from 1.5Mb to 6Mb," said Dennis King, director of the Virtual College and Learning Technologies. "This will greatly improve the quality of audio and video signal."
The following classes are scheduled for Salina in the fall. They are listed with the dates the classes will run, the day each meets, the instructor and the times.
