History Department awards scholarships

Fort Hays State University's Department of History recently awarded 13 students with scholarships at its 2006-2007 Scholarship Recognition Reception.

Two department scholarships were given in memory of David Miller, a former history student, retired military officer and friend of the university who died of cancer in December 2005.

Miller was an avid history buff, a fisherman and an amateur ham radio operator. He loved camping and four-wheeling.

Miller's parents, Duane and Donnie Miller, Russell, attended the reception, as did his sister, Micah, and his brother, Dru, Dru's wife, Jenna, and their son, Conner. Miller's friends Jodi Holmes and Lauren Holmes also attended.
