Fort Hays State University's Chemistry Department recently announced the names of 29 chemistry majors who received scholarships to attend FHSU for the 2004-2005 academic year.
Monique Schrader, Hays special student, and David Whitmer, Ellsworth junior, received the Abbott Laboratories Fund Chemistry Scholarship. This scholarship goes to juniors or seniors majoring in chemistry with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 with first preference going to those interested in organic or biochemistry.
The Harold S. and Genevieve L. Choguill Scholarship went to Stafford junior Jared Fox. To receive this award students must major in chemistry and attain high academic standing.
Brenda Pracht, Council Grove sophomore, received the Roy Rankin Memorial Scholarship. The Richards Memorial Scholarship went to Landon Johnson, Quinter senior.
Wilson sophomore Randi Haun received the Dr. Edmund Shearer Chemistry Department Scholarship. This scholarship requires that its recipient must be an FHSU sophomore who is a Kansas resident majoring in chemistry with an emphasis in a health related field.
Denise Gibbens, Tonganoxie junior, received the Jerry Wilson Scholarship, which is awarded to chemistry majors in the pre-medicine program.
