33 students nominated for FHSU Torch Award

Thirty-three graduating seniors at Fort Hays State University have been recognized as 2004 Torch Award nominees.

The award is given annually by the FHSU Alumni Association to an outstanding senior based on leadership, high personal standards of conduct, commitment and outstanding academic achievement. Students are nominated by faculty members.

The winner will be announced at the Graduate Faculty Brunch at 11:30 a.m. on May 14. The brunch honors all FHSU graduating students and is sponsored by the Alumni Association. The association, established in 1916, is dedicated to identifying and serving the needs of more than 36,000 graduates living throughout the United States and 61 foreign countries.

The nominees and their majors are listed in alphabetical order.

Janelle Bach, daughter of Douglas and Deborah Bach, Ellsworth, graduated from Ellsworth High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in education with a major in elementary education.

Anne Jean Bemis, wife of Dustin Weilert, Ellis, and daughter of Fred and Jeanne Weilert, Hays, graduated from Hays High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology.

Duane Blaesi, son of Ronald and Shirley Blaesi, Weskan, is a graduate of Weskan High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in computer.

Andrea Blevins, daughter of Brad and Sharon Blevins, 4405 NW 64th Terrace, Kansas City, MO, is a graduate of Park Hill High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology.

Nathan Burgess, son of Norman and Debra Burgess, McPherson, is a graduate of McPherson High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts in English and a bachelor of science in information networking and telecommunications.

Staci Coulson, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. George Coulson, Great Bend, is a graduate of Great Bend Senior High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of business administration with a major in information systems administration.

Erica Crist, daughter of Mark and JoAnn Crist, McPherson, is a graduate of McPherson High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in art education.

Jessica Finger, daughter of Edward and Arlene Finger, Andover, is a graduate of Andover High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of fine arts with a major in art and with a bachelor of arts with a major in foreign language.

Julie Grahs, daughter of Dr. Carl and Ann Grahs, Hays, is a graduate of Hays High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in education with a major in elementary education.

Haleigh Hansen, daughter of Bill and Chris Hansen, Beloit, is a graduate of St. John's Junior/Senior High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in education with a major in elementary education.

Jamie Heiman, daughter of Doug and Lora Heiman, Baileyville, is a graduate of B&B High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of business administration with a major in accounting and a bachelor of business administration with a major in finance.

Amy Hudson, daughter of Tom and Christine Hudson, Larned, is a graduate of Bucklin High School. She will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology.

Cody Hughes, son of Tim Hughes, Leoti, is a graduate of Wichita County High School. He will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in communication.

William Hurst IV, son of William and Beth Hurst, Goddard, is a graduate of Goddard High School. He will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in political science.

Jami Klug, daughter of Bill and Joan Klug, Odin, is a graduate of Claflin High School. She will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology.

Kelley Kuhlmann, daughter of Jack and Brenda Kuhlman, Dodge City, is a graduate of Dodge City High School. She will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of science in organizational leadership.

Crystal Maxton, daughter of Dan and Cindy Maxton, 2155 S. Rutan, Wichita, is a graduate of Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School. She will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of arts in justice studies.

Jennifer Mayers, daughter of Steven and Roxanne Mayers, Great Bend, is a graduate of Great Bend High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of business administration with a major in marketing.

Adam Moos, son of Ron Moos and Christine Caldwell, 1008 Pershing, Salina, is a graduate of Salina Central High School. He will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of fine arts with a major in art.-- more --

Aaron Oleen, son of Arden and Meg Oleen, Dwight, is a graduate of Council Grove High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in political science.

Candice Palen, daughter of Mike and Lynne Palen, Scott City, is a graduate of Scott Community High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in political science.

Alexandros Papatheodoulou, Hays, will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of business administration with a major in business communication.

Jace Pavlovich, son of Jack and Rita Pavlovich, Meade, is a graduate of Canton-Galva High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in history.

Malena Podrybau, daughter of Alana Rogers, McCracken, is a graduate of Bazine High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science with a major in psychology.

Brenda Prewo, daughter of Ed and Sharon Prewo, Grinnell, is a graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in education with a major in elementary education.

Elaina Salinas, daughter of Ignacio and Sharon Salinas, Merriam, is a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. She will be graduating FHSU with an associate of science in radiologic technology and a bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.

Samantha Scott, daughter of Sonia Scott, Elkhart, and Ron Scott is a graduate of Elkhart High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts in English.

Erich Singer, son of Joseph and Michelle Singer, 1220 NE Arter, Topeka, is a graduate of Hayden High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in health and human performance.

Deborah Storer, wife of David Storer, Hays, is a graduate of Centennial High School, Pueblo, CO. She will graduate FHSU with a bachelor of general studies.

Scott Thomasson, husband of Emily Thomasson, Hays, and son of Joe and Nadine Thomasson, Hays, is a graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science with a major in biology.

Audra Walter, wife of Curtis Walter, Ellis, is a graduate of Clifton-Clyde High School. She will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Jeremy Wright, Hays, son of Bud and Alberta Wright, is a graduate of Oakley High School. He will be graduating FHSU with a bachelor of arts with a major in communication.

Melissa Wyman, daughter of Gerald and Janet Wyman, Brownell, is a graduate of Ransom High School. She will be graduating FHSU with an associate of science in radiologic technology and bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.
