New president of Kansas TESOL is FHSU faculty member
05/17/2004

Robert Bruce Scott, assistant professor of special education at Fort Hays State University, has been elected president of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Scott's election came at the annual business meeting of KATESOL earlier this spring. His term is the 2004-2005 business year.

Scott coordinates the ESOL Endorsement Program at FHSU, which provides ESOL teacher education on campus, off campus and online.

The need for ESOL training in Kansas public schools has increased significantly over the past decade, to keep pace with a rapidly growing number of culturally and linguistically diverse students.

KATESOL has 200 members statewide.
