Tiger crop judgers show well at national event

Fort Hays State University crop judgers finished up their season in April with a respectable showing at a contest in Kewanee, IL.

Adam Jessee, Benkelman, NE, junior, and Brian Hall, Gorham junior, constituted only half a team but competed for individual awards at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture conference, said Dr. Robert Stephenson, associate professor of agriculture.

He said the Crops Contest was the most heavily competed contest, drawing two to five times as many contestants as any other event.

Jessee placed third in the Math Practical and eighth overall.

Prior to the contest the members competed in a regional at Manhattan against schools from Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas.
