Buying and selling on eBay will be a whole lot easier thanks to two courses offered by Fort Hays State University's Small Business Development Center. Joyce Banbury, an eBay-trained education and marketing specialist, will present the workshop Basics of Selling on eBay and the separate eBay Holiday Helper seminar. Both will be presented in Hays and Colby.
Holiday Helpers is a free seminar. It will be presented from 12:30-2 p.m. Nov. 10 in Hays at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History. In Colby, Holiday Helpers will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Colby Community College. The seminar provides an overview of how to use eBay to find what customers want.
Topics include how to register and search on eBay; how to search, browse, and add to the watch list; comparison shopping; an explanation of bid, buy or "buy it now"; using the gift wizard; understanding the bidding process; shopping tools; and how to use PayPal.
The Basics of Selling on eBay workshop costs $40 dollars. It will be presented from 2:30-6 p.m. Nov. 10 in Hays at the Sternberg Museum. In Colby, Basics of Selling will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Colby Community College. The workshop will help those who are interested in using eBay as a tool to effectively build a business.
Basics of Selling will cover areas such as the eBay homepage and toolbar; buying research; selling strategies; setting up an account; photography; pricing strategies; item descriptions; PayPal; shipping options; feedback; titles and subjects; monitoring the subject; return policies; contacting the buyer; and payment.
