Hundreds of Kansas high school students visited the foreign soil of the Fort Hays State University campus for the 31st annual Kansas Model United Nations Conference Nov. 18.
The conference, held in Memorial Union, was coordinated by FHSU students. It simulated the workings of the United Nations.
" Each high school was a different country," said Dr. David Weiden, assistant director of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs. "They met and ran a mock simulation of the real United Nations. There was a Security Council, resolutions made, and so on. It gave students the opportunity to explore international relations."
Each year, hundreds of high school students from across Kansas attend the conference, which is one of the only Model United Nations conferences held for high school students.
Students assisting in Model UN are listed by hometowns and classification.
