The Hays Symphony Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall on the campus of Fort Hays State University.
Conductor Dan Delisi, associate professor of music, will host a pre-concert talk at 2:30 p.m. at the same location.
The concert will feature "Water Music" by Handel and "Polovetsian Dances" by Borodin. It will also feature the finalists of the Hays Symphony Orchestra Young Artist's Competition. FHSU students Heather Schnoor, Hildreth, NE, junior, will perform vocal excerpts from Bizet's "Carmen" and Puccini's "La Boheme" and Alicia Eickoff, Great Bend graduate student, will sing arias from Mozart's "Abduction From the Seraglio" and Handel's "Semele."
Pianist Andrew Wright, a student at Wichita State University, will perform Liszt's "Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat."
Admittance is free for FHSU students and children 12 and under; $6 for adults; $4 for seniors and students 13 or older. Tickets are available at the door or by calling (785) 628-4533.
