Graphic arts students from Fort Hays State University took home eight of 11 awards, including the top three awards in the overall portfolio competition, at the American Institute of Graphic Arts Wichita Chapter's 16th Annual Student Portfolio Forum on April 17.
FHSU graphic art students competed against students from Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, Wichita State University, Missouri Western State College, Salina Vo-Tech, Friends University and two schools from Oklahoma.
Jenny Venn, Derby senior, took first-place in the overall portfolio competition and received the Judge's Choice award and the best packaging award.
Ray Schlitter, Hays junior, was the second-place overall portfolio winner as well as the other Judge's Choice Award winner. Third-place in the overall portfolio competition was won by graduate student Bang-Wool Han, Seoul, South Korea.
Amy Herold, Great Bend senior, won the best print award and Gina Simmons, Hays special student, won the best of multimedia/interactive.
Venn was also the recipient of the four-week, paid internship at Associated, a marketing, public relations and advertising firm in Wichita.
