Openings still available at FHSU for 'Silver Tiger' basic computer classes
09/15/2004

If you are 50 or older and want to learn how to use a computer, or just polish your computer skills, Fort Hays State University can help.

The "Silver Tigers" series of basic computer classes that began in August will continue into December, and slots are still open in all the classes.

The short-term computer classes do not count for college credit. Anyone 50 and over can participate. The only pre-requisite is a desire to learn. No high school or college degrees are necessary.

Two "Internet Activities" classes will run each Monday and Tuesday from Oct. 4 through 19, one from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Two "E-mail Only!" classes will run each Wednesday and Thursday from Oct. 6 through 21, one from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 8 p.m. No previous computer experience is necessary for these classes. In addition, two "Intermediate Users" classes will run each Wednesday and Thursday from Oct. 27 through Nov. 11, one from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Some previous computer experience would be helpful but not mandatory for the "Intermediate Users" classes.

Classes also are available for those who want to improve their computer skills. Two "Intermediate/Advanced Users" classes will run each Monday and Tuesday from Oct. 25 through Nov. 9, one from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Another "Intermediate/Advanced Users" class will run each Monday and Tuesday from Nov. 15 through Dec. 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Finally, two " Intermediate/Advanced Users " classes will run each Wednesday and Thursday from Nov. 17 through Dec. 9, one from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Enrolling is simple. Each class is only $45, plus a one-time semester fee of $35. All class materials are included. Discounts are available for enrolling in multiple classes. To receive a brochure or obtain more information about enrolling, contact Christiane "Criquet" Sar-Cole at (785) 628-5241.
