Livestock judging team brings home fifth-place win

The Fort Hays State University livestock judging team attended the Mid-America Classic in Wichita from Sept. 25 to 26.

" The team did OK with a fifth-place finish. We had some butterflies before we went, but I think we will continue to improve and do what we are capable of doing," said Kolby Birch, livestock judging coach.
Evan Cooper, Burdett senior, placed third overall. Ashley Stull, Natoma senior, also contributed to the success of the team.

" Cooper and Stull had no prior judging experience, but performed well," said Birch.

Also attending the event were Matt Wolfe, Indianola, NE, senior; Kiley McKinna, Redvers, Saskatchewan, Canada, senior; and Kelsey Kennedy, Myrtle Point, OR, senior.

The team's next event is Oct. 16 at the Premier Stockman in Franklin, IN.
