Members of the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce have been invited to a free luncheon at noon on Friday, Oct. 22, in the lobby of the Sternberg Museum of Natural History to hear a presentation about the future of higher education in Kansas from FHSU President Edward H. Hammond.
Bill Musgrave, staff director of Citizens for Higher Education, is the guest speaker.
Citizens for Higher Education is a grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness among all Kansans of the serious impact funding cuts are having on our colleges and universities as well as Kansas' overall economic well-being. The organization has spent two years reviewing the level of state support for higher education. Musgrave will speak on trends that were revealed and propose ways to improve the levels of funding for higher education.
Hays businessman Ross Beach and attorney Ken Havner, a former member of the Board of Regents, are among the founding members of the organization.
