Article by FHSU faculty members published in Kansas Policy Review

Fort Hays State University faculty members Dr. Charles Gnizak, assistant professor of accounting and information systems, Dr. Jerrold Stark, professor of management and marketing, and Dr. Robert Meier, professor of AIS, recently published an article titled "College Students and Debt: Credit Cards and Student Loans in Western Kansas" in the Kansas Policy Review.

The Kansas Policy Review, a semi-annual, online journal, is published by the Policy Research Institute at the University of Kansas and provides a forum for articles devoted to policy related topics relevant to Kansas and the nation.

The article, said Gnizak, was written due to the widespread use and abuse of credit cards by college students.

"Most of the article is about credit card usage: how many [students] have at least one, the average balances and the amount owed by grade level and age," he said.

Student loans and the amount accumulated by students during their time at school are also discussed.
