For the fourth year in row, a team of Fort Hays State University financial planning majors has made it to the finals of the American Express Planning Invitational.
Jeremy Horn, Almena senior, Austin Sander, Cimarron special student, and Jeff Zimmer, Beloit senior, made up the FHSU team that competed in the qualifying competition in February.
Out of 31 colleges, FHSU and seven other colleges, Kansas State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, Slippery Rock University, Texas Tech University, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina University and Wright State University, successfully wrote financial plans that advanced them to Phase 2 of the competition.
In April, the team of three FHSU financial planning majors will head to Minneapolis to compete in the final two stages of the American Express Planning Invitational.
The first stage is case presentation. Here the teams will have to give a presentation over a variation of the original case profile. The final stage is a game-show like competition that tests the students' knowledge of basic financial planning terms and concepts.
