Two Fort Hays State University alumni have recently made substantial donations to aid students in the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications.
Alumni David Gray and his wife, Kristi, have donated $1,500 to allow the department to purchase Flash animation software for a lab that is used in both the advanced and intensive web development classes.
"I am impressed with where the INT Department is going and I want it to maintain momentum," said Gray. "I know that when I was a student, I hated the fact that we were using old and out-dated equipment."
Stephen Schleicher, an alumni and INT faculty member, with his wife, Chada, have donated $1,200 to upgrade four FinalCut Pro video editing systems to the new software release.
Dr. Mark Bannister, department chair, said that the software is both excellent and expensive.
"We could not have upgraded this year without Stephen and Chada's help," said Bannister. "The new version of FinalCut Pro includes expanded video and audio capabilities."
Bannister also said that due to Schleicher's on-going professional activity as an industry writer and product evaluator, Adobe Systems has donated both a Mac and a Windows version of the newest Adobe After Affects software.
"These donations alone are worth thousands of dollars," said Bannister.
