Tax assistance provided through FHSU Accounting Club

Just in time for the tax season, the FHSU Accounting Club will sponsor VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), which provides free tax help to those eligible members of the community.

Volunteers will help attendants with basic tax returns, particularly those with low and limited income.

Assistance will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 5-28 in FHSU's McCartney Hall, room 205.

VITA will continue Thursdays from 5-9 p.m., March 4, 11 and 18 as well as April 1 and 8.

To qualify for assistance, filers must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) under $35,000 and use form1040EZ, 1040A or 1040. VITA can also help with Schedule A-Itemized Deductions and Schedule B-Interest and Dividends.

Accounting Club members are not qualified to work with Schedule C-Business Income, Schedule D-Capital Gains, Schedule E-Rent Income and Royalties, Schedule F-Farm Income or Foreign Student Returns.

Appointments cannot be scheduled as help will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
