Programs set for Martin Luther King Day events; FHSU to be closed in observance of holiday

Dr. Gwendolyn S. O'Neal, head of the Department of Apparel, Textiles and Interior Design at Kansas State University, will be the keynote speaker at the community program to observe Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 19.

The community program is scheduled from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the 12th Street Auditorium at the corner of 12th and Ash in Hays. A reception for O'Neal is scheduled for 3-4:30 p.m. at 2750 Thunderbird Circle.

At Fort Hays State University, which will be closed Monday for the holiday, the Black Student Union will conduct a candlelight vigil from 6-8 p.m. at Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus.
