Presentations, conferences, and seminars add to the knowledge of the FHSU Forsyth Library staff

Fort Hays State University Forsyth Library staff have attended various presentations, conferences and seminars over the past few months to gain knowledge that would allow the staff to provide better help and resources for the students and faculty.

Suzanne Vesely, copyright/reference librarian, attended "Protecting your Business' Intellectual Property in China" in Wichita in July and a Summer Institute for Distance Learning and Instructional Technology at Johnson County Community College in August. In October she also participated in Colleague to Colleague at FHSU.

Patty Nicholas, Special Collections librarian, attended a seminar in Rochester, NY, titled "Preserving Photographs in a Digital World."

In October, Jean Wesselowski, acquisitions librarian, and Heath Bogart, system administrator, attended the South Central Voyager Users Group Meeting in Fort Worth, TX. While at this meeting they attended presentations such as "Big Brother Scripts for your Voyager Server," "Circ Config and Ini Files: Are they for YOU?!," and "Access Reports for ABSOLUTE Beginners."

Bogart also attended and attained the Endeavor Information Systems Inc. Certification 400: Voyager/Oracle -- The Secrets Within in October.

Lynn Haggard, public services coordinator, went to the Kansas Library Association Council Meeting in Topeka representing the Interlibrary loan Round Table. She went to the Kansas Interlibrary Loan Council Meeting in McPherson as a representative to the State Library Council on Interlibrary Loan.

Haggard chaired the Kansas Interlibrary Loan Round Table Fall Meeting in Lindsborg. She also chaired the program on document delivery. At the Regents Library Database Committee Meeting in Wichita, she attended the committee meeting cooperating with online database purchases.
