Robert Scott, assistant professor of special education at Fort Hays State University, presented "Early Interventions for Culturally Diverse Learners" at a Nov. 8 conference in Denver, CO.
The conference combined the Colorado Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) meeting with the Rocky Mountain Regional TESOL convention.
Scott shared practices that can be implemented to give culturally and linguistically diverse students, through grade 12, a better chance to succeed in learning the English language.
FHSU provides training for the ESOL Endorsement program to teachers throughout western Kansas, where schools are experiencing significant growth in numbers of English language learners.
