A multicultural fashion show, an international film festival and a roundtable discussion are among the activities scheduled to take place during Fort Hays State University's third annual International Education Week, Nov. 17-21.
The week will officially begin with a proclamation at 9 a.m. Monday in the Dreiling Lobby in Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus, followed by a reception.
The International Student Union will begin doing presentations in multiculturalism classes on campus that day and will continue throughout the week. A display of international items will be in the Memorial Union and in Forsyth Library and will remain all week. Tiger Tots Nurtury children will have the chance to listen to the reading of ethnic books by ISU, Black Student Union and Hispanic American Leadership Organization members all week. A national and international exchange bulletin board will be on display in Forsyth Library.
An event on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., is aimed at narrowing the gap between cultures through conversation. People participating in Trading Faces will converse with others of all ages, genders, races, colors, creeds and religious beliefs without knowing who they are talking to. The event will be held in the Agnew Hall Lobby.
A multicultural fashion show is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center. Activities are also scheduled in the Black and Gold Room in the Memorial Union for GIS Day.
Model UN is scheduled for all day Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Memorial Union, and an informational meeting with Study Abroad/National Student Exchange is planned for 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Trails Room of the Memorial Union.
On Friday, Nov. 21, Dr. Josephine Squires is scheduled to head a roundtable discussion from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Stouffer Lounge in Memorial Union. That evening, an International Film Festival will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the McMindes Hall East Living Room.
