A heavy equipment transporter from the U.S. Army Reserve's 443rd Transportation Company, carrying a tank, will be among the military equipment parked outside Lewis Field Stadium Saturday before and during the Fort Hays State University Tiger football game.
The 443rd is from Great Bend and Dodge City. A palletized loading system from Fort Riley and several Humvees will also be on display beginning at 10 a.m. outside the north gate on the student side of the stadium.
Several reservists and regular Army soldiers will be "tank tailgating" before the game. Brig. Gen. David S. Gross, a Hays native now stationed at Fort Riley, will attend the game as a guest of FHSU President Edward H. Hammond.
The Tigers, 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, take on Western State, CO, College, 4-5 and 3-3, at 1 p.m. It is the final Tiger home game of the season.
