The work of Jayson K. Taylor, Fort Hays State University instructor of art, has been chosen for publication in FiberArts Design Book Seven.
FiberArts magazine judged nearly 6,000 entries on the bases of artistic quality, technical expertise and innovative style. The selected entries will be published in a book that represents the diversity, depth and unique vision that comprise the field called ?fiber arts.? Entries were received from more than 35 countries. FiberArts staff chose 550 works to be published.
Taylor?s work, ?Waiting for Blue,? is a multi-media installation piece that combines different silk fusing techniques and a video production.
The FiberArts Design Book series features contemporary quilting, wearable art, surface design, basketry, weaving, needlework, tapestry, paper, felt, fiber sculpture, installation art, beading and mixed media. The design books have documented the evolution of contemporary textile art since 1980; volume seven covers work completed since 1998.
FiberArts Design Book Seven will be released by Lark Books, Asheville, NC, in spring 2004. It will be available at Barnes and Noble and other bookstores.
