A free financial planning seminar for senior citizens will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in the Black and Gold Room of Fort Hays State University's Memorial Union.
The seminar, open to the public, is offered by the university's Department of Economics and Finance and the Kansas State Treasurer's Office.
Speakers will be FHSU faculty members Dr. Tom Johansen and Dr. Rory Terry, associate professors of economics and finance; local attorney Stacey Seibel of Parman, Easterday and Pitcock; and certified public accountant Kathy Mitchell of Brungardt Hower Ward Elliott and Pfeifer L.C.
They will offer strategies on investing in today's market, tax tips and advice on strengthening financial plans. The presentations are "Tax Tips for Seniors," "Financial Planning: Road Map to the Future," "Investing in Today?s Markets" and "Estate Planning for Seniors."
After registration at 8:30 a.m.,Kansas Treasurer Lynn Jenkins will welcome the participants and FHSU President Edward H. Hammond will give opening remarks. Assistant State Treasurer Jeff Wagaman will provide an overview of the day's events.
