Kari Austin, executive director for the Kansas Republican Party, will be on the Fort Hays State University campus on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in Rarick Hall 201 to speak on several topics. Austin's presentation will be hosted by Media Pros, a public relations and journalism organization at FHSU.
Austin, an FHSU alumnus and native of Hays, will speak about issues such as internships, how college did and did not prepare her for the work force, her experiences as a journalist and in politics, and how she went from journalism to politics.
In 1991 she graduated from FHSU with a B.A. in journalism with a minor in political science. Since that time she has worked as a reporter, legislative assistant for U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum and legislative director with Congressman Jerry Moran prior to taking her current position.
A meet-and-greet reception will following Austin's presentation. All FHSU students, staff and faculty along with the general public are invited to the event.
