Sternberg Museum receives grant from Kansas Arts CommissionSternberg Museum receives grant from Kansas Arts Commission

Fort Hays State University's Sternberg Museum recently received a grant from the Kansas Arts Commission for a state-wide traveling exhibition program.

"This program marks the Sternberg Museum's first traveling exhibition that we have produced and made available to other venues," said Dr. Jerry Choate, director of the museum. "This grant from the KAC helps get the show on the road."

The grant, for a total of $7,500, will offset costs of transporting the exhibition titled "Shades of Gray: Views of Nature and Technology," to venues around the state of Kansas. It will give funding for each of the seven galleries and arts centers to host the exhibition, pay the shipping fees, pay the costs of bringing in a featured speaker and publicize the exhibition.

"Basically, because of the generosity of the KAC, seven galleries from around the state will host this interesting exhibition at almost no cost to them," said Choate.

After June of 2004, the period covered by the grant, the exhibition will be available for a national tour. For more information about the exhibition, contact the Sternberg Museum of Natural History at (785) 628-4286 or online at
