Protection student signs letter of intent to compete with FHSU Rodeo Team

Haley Hazen, 2003 Ashland High School graduate, has signed a letter of intent to compete in the Fort Hays State University Rodeo program.

Hazen, the daughter of Steve and Kelly Hazen, Protection, competed in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association (KHSRA) in breakaway roping and team roping. She completed the 2002-2003 season ranked sixth in the breakaway roping and is competing now in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association Finals, June 6-8. This is be the fourth year that she has qualified for the KHSRA Finals.

She will compete in breakaway roping and team roping for the Tiger women's team.

In high school, Hazen was an honor roll student and competed in basketball, volleyball and rodeo. She served as the class secretary/treasurer and Student Council secretary/treasurer, was Homecoming Queen and was also voted the Most Inspirational Athlete.

She plans to major in elementary education.
