Many Fort Hays State University students were initiated this spring into the FHSU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.
To be eligible for Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest interdisciplinary honor society, students must be last-term juniors in the upper 5 percent of their class or seniors in the upper 10 percent. Graduate students and faculty are also eligible.
Phi Kappa Phi awards $380,000 annually for first-year graduate study, $50,000 in grants every three years and $150,000 in scholarships for its local chapters. It also sponsors internship and study abroad grants for undergraduates.
The FHSU chapter $500 scholarship winner was Heidi Zeigler, Natoma sophomore.
