Fort Hays State University's Judy Caprez, director of social work, and Micki Armstrong, instructor of sociology, provided a three-hour training session to approximately 50 participants recently at the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers Spring Conference in Topeka, KS.
Caprez and Armstrong's topic was "Dealing with Difficult People and Their Disputes." This workshop helped participants develop knowledge and skills to apply in high conflict disputes when one or more parties have a difficult personality or personality traits.
In the afternoon session, Armstrong was co-presenter with Gary Kretchmer, Court Services Officer III from Johnson County in the topic of impasse in mediation. This workshop focused on the types of issues that make mediation cases difficult and how to develop creative strategies to overcome impasse.
