FHSU graduate student Nick Krehbiel wins state prize with history paper

Nick Krehbiel, Pratt graduate student at Fort Hays State University, won Best Paper in the Graduate Division for his submission to the upcoming Kansas History Teacher's Association State Conference in Lawrence from April 4-5.

His paper, " 'We Felt Like We Were Serving Humanity': McPherson County, Kansas, Conscientious Objectors During World War II," covers the draft laws concerning conscientious objection, types of alternative service, and the experience of McPherson County conscientious objectors in civilian public service during World War II.

The prize includes a monetary award of $125 and a presentation during the paper prize session at the KHTA State Conference.
