Seminars at FHSU, Garden City CC to cover threats to, protection of business computer networks

A seminar on the importance of business computer security will be offered Tuesday, March 25, in Garden City and again on Wednesday, March 26, on the Fort Hays State University campus.

FHSU's Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications, the Garden City Information Technology Cooperative, Nex-Tech and Cisco Systems are sponsoring the seminars.

The intent is to inform businesses on the importance of protecting their computing technology from a growing array of security threats. The seminar in Garden City will be in the Garden City Community College Math and Science Lecture Hall, room C125. The FHSU seminar will be in the Fort Hays Ballroom of Memorial Union.

Each seminar is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. Both are free, but pre-registration is required. Contact Michelle Staples at Nex-Tech, 1-877-743-7872, to register or to discuss additional details.

Presentations will cover external and internal threats associated with computer and Internet networks and will also cover options for mitigating those threats. Presentations will include hands-on demonstrations of security technologies.
