SBDC workshop aims at helping business owners, managers attain growth, profitability

Workshops aimed at helping entrepreneurs guide their businesses into growth and expansion will be offered in Great Bend and Hays in March.

"Listening to Your Business," a module of the "Take Charge of Your Business" workshop series developed by FastTrac, sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, is designed to provide business owners and managers with evaluation tools and action steps to maximize growth and profitability.

The workshops, sponsored by Fort Hays State University's Small Business Development Center, 109 W. 10th St., Hays, will be presented from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 14 at the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce office, 1301 Williams, and in Hays on March 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, 3000 Sternberg Drive.

"Listening to Your Business," facilitated by Dr. Jerry Stark, professor of business administration at FHSU, will take participants through a four-step evaluation and action process. The stages are setting a three-year vision; taking a snap-shot of the business; evaluating the planning process; and translating goals into action.

Registration is $75. The deadline is March 12 for Great Bend and March 26 for Hays. To register, call the FHSU SBDC at (785) 628-6786 or e-mail
