Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will visit Fort Hays State University next week to talk about the state's continuing budget challenges and to seek input from citizens across western Kansas.
The governor will visit from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the Stouffer Lounge in FHSU's Memorial Union as part of her "Governor's Budget Briefing Tour." This is a public event and everyone is welcome to attend.
Glenn Staab, chair of the Ellis County Democratic Party, said the governor would speak and then take comments in two-minute slots from the audience, both at Fort Hays State and from other sites in western Kansas that will be connected through technology provided by FHSU's Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning Technology.
CTELT will broadcast live video of the Hays event through Internet Protocol Television to community college campuses in Pratt, Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Colby and Great Bend. The IPTV system will allow those at the remote sites to see and hear the governor speak, and the governor also will be able to see and hear them as they offer comments.
Sebelius visited Fort Hays State less than two months ago -- on Jan. 10 -- during her pre-inaugural tour. CTELT also broadcast that appearance over IPTV to numerous sites in western Kansas.
