FHSU agriculture students to present ag-related seminars

As part of the senior-level class requirements, Fort Hays State University agriculture students will present seminars in Albertson Hall, room 235, through April 28.

The student seminars, which began March 3, will cover a variety of topics including biodiesel, genetically modified organisms, Atrazine and the use of technical analysis in the future's market.

The presentations will be given to ag students as well as anyone else interested in attending.

On March 3, Matthew Deyle, Imperial, NE, senior, reported on ethanol.

March 10, Jay Joy, Cuba senior, presented "The Use of Technical Analysis in the Future's Market" and "Noxious Weeds of Ellis County" was presented by Kris Marintzer, Hays senior.

At 3:30 p.m. March 24, Preston Gronemeyer, Dewitt, NE, senior, will present "Tillage vs. No-Till Farming." The 4:30 p.m. seminar will be "Rotational Grazing" by Will Norton, Minneola senior.

On March 31, at 3:30 p.m., Ryan Rewerts, Stafford senior, will present "Atrazine." Mark Howerton, Lyons senior, will present "Windbreaks" at 4:30 p.m.

April 7, at 3:30 p.m., Luke Harrington, Garden City senior, will hold a seminar on "Pivot vs. Strip Irrigation." Erin Lawless, Sharon Springs senior, will present "Corn Insects" at 4:30 p.m.

On April 14, at 3:30 p.m., Rusty Klitzke, Ransom senior, will give a presentation on "Biodiesel." Seth Albers, Brownell senior, will give a presentation on "What Can a Farmer Do to Help Improve His Pheasant Population" at 4:30 p.m.

April 21, at 3:30 p.m., Dustin Snodgrass, Garfield senior, will give his presentation on "The West Nile Virus." The 4:30 p.m. seminar will be "Quality and Concerns of Hard Winter Wheat on the Plains" given by James Heinrichs, Ulysses senior.

On April 28, at 3:30 p.m., Mike Simmons, Chapman senior, will present "The Re-establishment of the Cattle Enterprise." Lance Stegman, Lyons senior, will present "Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)" at 4:30 p.m.
