FHSU's swimming pool closed for repairs

Fort Hays State University's swimming pool at Cunningham Hall closed temporarily at the end of activities scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The closing is a result of mechanical problems with the filter tank, said Dr. Jeff Briggs, chair of the Department of Health and Human Performance. He said that he expected the repairs to be completed and the pool to be reopened in three or four days.

"I don't think that it will be down for the rest of the semester," Briggs said.

He noted though that this was only an estimate.

Cunningham's pool is currently used by groups that include the Hays' Young Swim Team, students enrolled in aquatics classes and several aquasize groups.

Briggs said he hopes to have a more accurate time estimate Friday of how long the process will take.
